Parkinson's Rehabilitation Physiotherapy
Living with Parkinson’s can affect balance, movement, coordination, and confidence in everyday life. At York Physio & Health, all of our Parkinson’s rehabilitation care is fully physiotherapist-led, meaning you receive expert clinical guidance, individual adaptations, and evidence-based treatment in every single session. We work closely with you to understand your specific challenges and build a personalised plan to help you move better, manage stiffness, and stay as independent as possible.
How Parkinson's Affects Movement & How Physio Helps
- Understanding Parkinson's Symptoms: Parkinson's can lead to tremor, slowness of movement, stiff and inflexible muscles, and balance problems that can increase the risk of a fall or knock your confidence in everyday life.
- Early Intervention & NICE Guidelines: NICE guidance (NG71) recommends that people are offered Parkinson's-specific physiotherapy when they experience balance or motor difficulties, with early referral considered so support begins when most helpful.
- Staying Active & Independent: Physiotherapy is one of the key supportive treatments recommended to manage movement changes, improve functional mobility, and help you stay active and in control.
